My Halloween Home {Part 2} & A Winner

Good Morning, Sweeties!  First of all, let me announce the WINNER from last week's Open Haunted House Giveaway is...
She linked up these fun & festive Halloween Broom Cookies!
CONGRATULATIONS, Christy!  You win a set of my "All Hallow's Eve" 3x3 cards!!!
Please email your mailing address to moomootutu@gmail.com!

Now, on to Part 2 of my Halloween Home!

one of my Shabby Chic "Yard Sale" tables decked out for Halloween; the eek sign came from Target, the table covering was found at Dollar Tree, the plate stand at Big Lots

On top of my entertainment center is my framed Halloween collage from Lil' Pumpkin's 1st Halloween, my vintage Trick or Treat wooden sign, and my milk jug ghost ( I put an electric candle inside and it really does look spooky at night).

My mantle features all my orange and black decor items including a crow, sparkly signs, Dollar Tree pumpkins, and mini jack'o'lantern lights purchased at Walgreens many years ago.  I exchanged our family photo to the black and white version to match the theme.

My polka dot toilet paper pumpkin perches atop an upturned black metal planter.

My dining table is dressed up for Halloween with my favorite Pumpkin tablecloth (I have used this on my dining table ever since the 1st year we were married; sort of a tradition now), and my centerpiece is my standing wrought iron chandelier with orange glass globes (i love it)!

My chalkboard gets a spooky makeover with an Edgar Allen Poe quote and of course, a raven!

My buffet table in the kitchen is ready for trick or treating with my trio of Dollar Tree apothecary jars filled with SUGARY SWEETNESS!!!

Lil' Pumpkin's room is no exception to the Halloween fun with his paper Jack'o'lantern with an electric tea light inside!

A Winnie the "Boo", pumpkin picture frame, and metal basket filled with Halloween lights sits on top of his dresser!

Thanks for coming by today!  Stay tuned for my outdoor decorations!  I would have already posted about that, but all our pumpkins were stolen from our front yard display a few days ago!  Boo :(  I had one unhappy little boy, who continues to ask people, "You 'teal my punkins?"  So, needless to say, we're going today to buy more!  Hopefully, we can keep them until Halloween!?!

Wednesday WOW Finds: {Fall Decor}

This past Sunday, we went to my cousin's birthday dinner at my Aunt Tanya's house!  She shares my love of decorating for the seasons & she has a definite talent for arranging vignettes all around her home!  She frequently goes antiquing to fill her home with lovelies!  There's always so much to see when I go there!  She recently went  to The Country Living Fair where she scored lots of fall goodies!  She graciously allowed me to feature her beautiful home today, so come on in and take a look around!

The wrought iron pumpkin surrounding a burnt orange mum greet guests on the front porch!

Her red front door with a swag of wooden leaves, twigs & berries.

A side table features a fabric pumpkin amber glass candlesticks and a picture of my favorite tree in my Parent's yard!

Her toilet paper pumpkin made by yours truly & given as a "Happy Fall" gift, is sitting pretty on a cute tray.

The rustic mantle over her wood-burning fireplace is filled with Autumn goodenss!

She made this adorable pillow & found the leaf garland at the fair.

This Trick or Treat pillow was also made by my Aunt (I thought about sneaking this out in my diaper bag) haha!

I love this arrangement with the lighted branches!

A buffet table in her dining room is decked out for fall as well!  The electric candles look so warm & inviting!

a cute sitting corner with another Aunt-made pillow and spooky Halloween tree

She filled a plant stand with pumpkins...how creative!

Her entry table with her antique window that she fills with favorite images from books & decorating magazines (We both LOVE Country Living)!

 Thanks for visiting my Aunt's house & happy Halloween!

I've been trying to decide what goodies to make for our Halloween party & found these two awesome recipes that are now definitely added to my to-make list!

The first is Owl Smores & the recipe comes from Amy at Living Locurto.   I think these are a "hoot" (sorry, couldn't resist)!  My Lil' Pumpkin, however, is a little scared of owls, so I'm hoping to talk him into helping me make these for the party!  If he helps, he'll be more agreeable to them! :)

Go HERE for the recipe!

The second tasty treat is White Chocolate Pumpkin Pie Cookies from Cookies and Cups. These look so yummy & fallish (is that a word, if not, it should be, so I'm making it one) :)

Ingredients:
COOKIES:
1 cup softened butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoon vanilla
1 (15 oz) can pumpkin
2 cups AP flour
3 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
pinch of salt
1 (12 oz) bag white chocolate chips

FROSTING:
1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed)
3 T. butter
1/4 cup milk
2 cups sifted powdered sugar

Directions:
1. Preheat to 350

2. Cream butter and both sugars  with mixer.
3. Beat in egg, vanilla and pumpkin.
4. Combine dry ingredients and slowly add to butter mixture.
5. Mix until combined.
6. Stir in white chocolate chips.
7. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto parchment lined baking sheet.  (Batter will be sticky)
8. Bake approx 12 minutes until edges are slightly golden.
9. Let sit on baking sheet for at least 2 minutes and then transfer to wire rack to cool.

For frosting...
1. combine brown sugar and butter in small saucepan over medium heat.
2. Bring to a boil and continue cooking 1 minute.
3. Remove from heat and cool for 10 minutes.  Mixture will slightly thicken.
4. With hand mixer beat in milk until smooth.  5. Slowly add in powdered sugar until spreadable consistency. ( I used all 2 cups).
5. Spread approx 1 teaspoon on each cookie.

Makes approx 3 1/2 - 4 dozen.
Store in airtight container for up to 3 days.

I hope you enjoy these tasty treats!

Welcome to my home in the fall!  If I haven't already mentioned it enough...I. LOVE. FALL!!!!  I think it is the best time to decorate, when the weather gets a little cooler, and the leaves change to brilliant, bright colors!

So, come on in & make yourself at home!

my front door wreath

My wreath was very simple {and cheap} this year!  I used a small grapevine wreath from Hobby Lobby, wrapped & hot glued sparkly wired purple ribbon with black fuzzy trim from the Dollar Tree, and attached a sassy witch silhouette with the saying, "Stay for a Spell!"

If you want a Miss Sassy for your very own, just click on the image below to make it bigger, then right-click, & save to your computer!

My Entryway

I wanted to use black & white decor items for my entryway this year & I love how it all came together & looks very chic & spooky!

{White Toilet Paper Pumpkin & Dollar Tree Cake Stand}
I've seen these pumpkins floating around blogland this fall & HAD to make one!  They were so easy & quick to make (my crafts have to be quick, Lil' Pumpkin's naptime goes fast)!  For this one, I used a quilted fabric napkin for the pumpkin, a paper lunch sack for the stem, & tied black ribbons around the stem for the "leaves"!

I made the plate stand by gluing a Dollar Tree glass plate to a glass candlestick holder.  It was my first experience with Gorilla Glue~wow!  :)

{Dollar Tree Pedestal Hurricane with a Ghost Candle}
I was lulled into Dollar Tree glass dish making by Staci at Lizard & Ladybug & she was right, once you make one, you can't stop!  I simply used a flaired vase & glass candlestick holder to make this one.  Then, to make my ghost candle, I used a candle that had already been burned down a bit, which made the ghost shape more realistic. To make the face, I simply drew it with a black sharpie onto white computer paper & cut it out.  Then, I used glue dots to adhere the face to the candle!  BOO!  It scares me every morning! *wink*  I filled the hurricane with black river rock, set the candle on top, and tied black skull ribbon around the base.

{Wall Display}
On the wall behind the table, I hung my Dollar Tree "Witches Way" Dessert Menu, small sparkly Boo, and a black & white photo of my little family!  That frame came from Big Lots last Spring for about $4!  I love the chunkiness of it!

{Whole view of the table}
I used a black and white striped rag rug from the Dollar Tree as a table covering.  In the center, I framed a photo collage of last year's fall pictures.  In front of the frame, I added 3 glass letters I found at Hobby Lobby to spell BOO.  A white glass pumpkin from the Dollar Tree and a metal haunted house "bag" with an electric tea light candle complete my display!

another view of the entryway
